On December 15, 2016, a Japan-Russia summit meeting was held. The sake enjoyed at the venue, the prestigious, long-established hot spring inn "Otani Sanso" in Nagato City, was "Ichiban Matoi." This is a Junmai Daiginjo sake brewed by Sumikawa Sake Brewery in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, using Yamada Nishiki rice polished to 40%. It is an elegant sake with a beautiful harmony of rice flavor and clear acidity.
