This is the origami (lightly cloudy) version of the popular “Mori no Kumasan 50.”
The name Myōen (妙延) is taken from the given name of Katō Myōen, the daughter of Katō Tadahiro, the eldest son of Lord Katō Kiyomasa, who had one son and one daughter while in what is now Yamagata Prefecture.
The son was named Katō Kumatarō.
